This is a company out to scam you with false excuses to access your PC. They like to claim you have a virus then go on to try and sell you software you do not need.
Stay well away!
They just rang me during my lunch break. Told me they knew I had a virus and they would show me if I went online. I run a computer company and know this has to be a scam. As it was my lunch break I get asking the man how much it was going to cost for a bit of a laugh. His English was terrible and he couldn’t understand my accent. He eventually passed me to his manager after 10 mins. His managers English was a bit better. I told his manager I was registered with the Telephone Preference Service and asked him if he knew what that was. He turned nasty on the phone, “..just you wait and see what I can do to you Mr Higginson..”. I was intrigued. “..just you wait and see… in 5 to 10 mins… just see what I can do..”. He then told me that I should not have taken the mick out of him as he KNEW where I lived. He then read out my full address and postcode in a threatening way.
I any one else get another call from these &*$^%&ers report them to the TPS. That’s the only way they can be stopped.
Getting bombarded by these people its driving me mad they call three times a day – does anyone know if they are in UK or India? I am registered with call preference service but that doesn’t seem to work…(know it is only for UK calls).. can anyone help with how to stop these ghastly people?
I got a02538020308 phone call from saying they were Microsoft Windows and they had detected serious spying problems from my computer and they wanted to share access to help me. I hung up.
Call received today claiming they were Microsoft Windows Service, and they were alerted that my pc had too many junk files. Knowing this to be a scam I kept them talking for a while, just to increase their phone bill then asked them how they knew it was my computer. Not getting a believable answer I then asked them to tell me what my computer I.P. address was. At this point they hung up.
We are getting on average a call every day from this number. Usually it is a missed call as there is not usually anyone in during the day except the dog.
When we have answered it there is just an empty line. Never had the chance to speak to this scum yet.
We are registered with TPS also. Are we seeing a slow but sure circumnavgation of this? it has always been good up to now.
another call received today from this number – was a long pause (indicating to me the call may actually be from outside the UK) before an Indian voice spoke claiming to be from Windows 7, as usual told him I was not interested and put the phone down. We too are registered with TPS and in the last few days I have complained to them about 3 other telephone numbers which constantly call, purporting to be SKY or “a consumer group”….I’m thinking TPS is no longer managing to filter these calls which is a b….y nuisance. I am now keeping a log of all these problem telephone number because I am sick and fed up of the constant interruptions.
had a call from this number 1.45 am, worrying at this time, should be a way of stopping them
I keep getting these calls a year ago they used to speak to me now a days they just ring I answer then they hang up, wasters, gonna buy a whisle I think and give erm a blast down the phone maybe then they will leave me alone, stupid scammers cant even get their scam right
Same experiance as above – asked for my wife by name and then knew my name – Said he was from Microsoft and i neede his help with a virus – Told him he was a VIRUS and hung up
quite annoyed really got woken up at 6.30am today by call from these scammers when i answered they just hung up i know this is a scam as i know about most of them more fed up about geting woken up on my day off grrrr now can’t get back to sleep……….
Claims to be on behalf of Microsoft. Told me they noticed I have a virus on my computer. I asked her which one as I have several running at the moment and asked her for the IP address but she didn’t know what I was talking about. Scarily, she knew my name and address.
This is a well known scam, they offer to fix it for a small fee, take your credit card details, charge you up to 10 times more than they say, give you a link to click to download the solution but the link actually sends a small program to your PC to log all your credit card transactions and bank details if you bank on-line and then they take all your money.
Advise is: HANG UP and tell them nothing
Just received a call about an issue with my PC. When i started questioning him the issue changed from a PC to a laptop (my work one). I work in IT and he just ignored this and carried on talking over me. I had to get very strong with him and re-iterate that I work with IT every day of the week and my knowledge of IT was strong enough to know I did not need his help. Eventually he gave up and hung up the phone
just received my 18th call in less than 2 weeks how can we get rid of this nuisance
Knew where I lived going to send a bomb sad really
